18 feb qcss board decision

Dear QCSS Families,

I want to provide an update after last night’s board meeting. After a decisive vote (three yeas and two nays), QCSS Board of Directors has approved "QCSS In-Person Instruction Plan" for the students who want to return to schools.

With the Board’s approval:

  • All the final controls of the buildings will be carried out until February 22, 2021.
  • All the staff will be tested for COVID-19 until February 28, 2021.
  • All the staff (teaching and non-teaching) will return to the buildings on March 1, 2021 and training will take place.
  • K-5, EC, and the students who are at risk of failing will return to the buildings starting March 15, 2021.
  • Students in grades 6-12 will return to the buildings starting April 12, 2021.

The principals will communicate the details of the plan with you in due course. Please be in close communication with your school.

Remote Instruction will remain in place until the end of the school year for all those families who are not comfortable sending their students back to the buildings.

I am fully aware of the challenges ahead of us in implementing this plan. However, I know that our buildings are ready to welcome students in accordance with CDC and state health guidelines against COVID-19. And with our dedicated staff, we will be able to overcome any unforeseen hurdles along the way and ensure that every child is provided with the high-quality learning experience that they deserve in and out of school buildings.

I share my heartfelt appreciation to the QCSS Board members for their visionary leadership and thank you all for your continued support and understanding in a year fraught with so many challenges.

Looking forward to a brighter future,

Ben Karaduman
